Parish Council Minutes July 7, 2007

Present:  Sister Sarah, Jim Y., Leona W., Virgie C., Matha H., and Christy N.

Opening Prayer; Justice Prayer was prayed by all.

Minutes of the May 26, 2007 Parish Council Meeting were read and approved.

Finance Committee:  The financial report was discussed.  Jim Y. motioned to approve the financial report; Christy N. seconded; motion passed.

Liturgy Committee:  Virgie suggested that the communion vessels (cups and dishes) be washed periodically to remove dirt and grim.  Sister Sarah indicated this is being done periodically, as needed.  If communion ministers notice a need to wash them, do so.

Education Committee:  All teachers must be certified by May 2008 in order to teach Religious Education Classes.  We will be updated on the next time the opportunity to receive this instruction is available.  Four have completed the training and one is taking the course this summer.

Old Business:  The Parish Council Constitution was reviewed and discussed. It was moved by Virgie and seconded by Leona that we meet every other month.  Father must approve the revised constitution before forwarding it to the Bishop for his approval.  Sister will take care of this.

Sister talked about replacing the old printer.  Also, pictures of everything in the rectory, church and parish hall have been taken for insurance purposes.  Serial numbers and ages of the equipment will be documented.  Matha suggested that a request for volunteers, to help with a complete inventory of all dishes, utensils etc, be put in the bulletin.  Those interested will meet with Sister Sarah once she returns.

New Business:  Sister informed us that she has adjusted her schedule to be at St Bridget’s two weeks a month instead of three weeks a month.  Sister will be on the Reservation one week and one week on the Provincial Council business. 

Sister attended the Deanery Meeting in Alliance on June 24, 2007.  The terms of Brian Kuhn and Greg Moeller on the Deanery Pastoral Council expired June 30.  Greg showed interest in another term.  Sister resigned as the representative for religious on this group.  Next meeting of the Deanery Council is Sept. 23, 2007 at 3:00 pm in Alliance .  Some names were mentioned to fill this position and Sister will contact these people to see if they would be interested in this.   

Sister told us that we need to get an active Liturgy Committee going.  There are some volunteers interested in this committee.  Religious Formation committee members, Christy and Leona need to check with Rhonda Manning and report back to the Council on the classes, schedule, training for core certification and safe environment for the next school year.   The Finance Committee consisting of Matha, Jim W. and Roger D. need to check with Father in regards to the Budget and report back to the Council.  Matha will give a report on the Budget at our next meeting.
