Minutes of the September 9, 2007 St. Bridget’s Parish Council Meeting

Present:  Sister Sarah, Leona W. Matha H. and Christy N.

Minutes of the July 7, 2007 Parish Council Meeting were read and approved.

Committee Reports:

Finance Committee: The Budget was reviewed and approved.

Building and Grounds Committee:  Five fire extinguishers need recharged or replaced.  Jim Yardley suggested that we get them replaced.  The furnace room has old paint and wood in it.  We would possibly need a work day to remove the old paint and wood and label other items.  A blood born pathogens plan needs to be put in place for the needs of our students.  Our Parish does not have an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) at this time and because of the expense we will not suggest getting one in the near future.  We are not certain the Church, Rectory and Hall have lightning protection.  Sister will contact Dale Wood about these.  We also do not presently have a Carbon Monoxide Detector in any of our facilities.  It was recommended that we purchase one for the Rectory.

Liturgy Committee:  Sister is working on this committee.

Education Committee:  All teachers working with our CCD Students need to be certified by May, 2008.  St. Bridget’s has between 4-8 people interested in being certified.  This training will be held Mondays for 4 weeks, starting Monday, Sept. 17th, with Noreen Placek from Alliance, instructing.  We currently have no teacher for grades 7-9, which involves 6 students.  Lower grades for CCD will start this Wednesday.  Confirmation will possibly start in October.  Generations of Faith, which is held 4 times a year, will have an organizational meeting soon.

Old Business:  A printer for the rectory is needed.  A motion to purchase a new printer was made, seconded and approved.  Sister will make this purchase.  Inventory of dishes, etc has been made on video and pictures taken, next is a written inventory to be completed.

New Business:  Greg Moeller has agreed to be a Deanery representative.  We need one more representative.  Deanery Meetings are held on Sundays in Alliance, every other month.  Would any one be interested in serving in this position?  Please contact Sister Sarah.

We now have an official Constitution for St. Bridget’s Parish signed by the Bishop.

The Parish needs a DVD player to be used for CCD Classes.  A motion was made, seconded and carried for Sister Sarah to purchase a DVD player.

Parish Council elections are to be held in November.  Would anyone be interested in serving our Parish in this capacity?  Please contact Sister Sarah if you are interested.

No further business before the Council, the meeting was adjourned with prayer.

Next Parish Council Meeting will be held on Sunday, November 11th at 10:45 am.
